Marianne Cook-Martin, BA, MACP, CCC
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
For 25 years I dedicated myself to serving as a Paramedic. It was this experience which brought me to becoming a Psychotherapist. My personal journey as a mom, wife, first responder, and friend, has sparked my passion to help individuals work through life’s various transitions including infertility, caregiver burnout, trauma, and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). I have a passion for working with first responders and their families and with our younger population including children and teens (age 8 and up) helping them navigate their unique challenges.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the CRPO and am completing my Master of Art in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I’m also a Blue Cross Provider and a CCC (Canadian Certified Counsellor) #11246427.
In sessions, I provide a safe, compassionate, and confidential environment to explore feelings, beliefs, work through challenges, set goals and work towards desired change. I utilize a trauma-informed lens using treatments and interventions from various modalities including Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Narrative Therapy, and Sand tray Therapy along with tailoring my approach to meet each person’s needs. I have a special interest in working with histories of trauma, grief, those struggling with burnout and life transitions. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship struggles, self-harm, self-esteem, and others.
I strongly believe in the power of a warm, welcoming presence which can gently open the door to meaningful conversation. I have my own lived experiences, and although they are different from yours, this understanding fuels my empathy – a power I strongly believe in. Everyone’s story is unique and their own, and it would be my privilege to explore your story with you.
